Eat like a Local in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires may be famous for beef, but Porteños don’t live by steak alone. So, like many things in life, the best way to experience the heart of Buenos Aires is through your stomach. Here are some must-eat spots that will make your tummy do the tango.

-El San Juanino

This rustic spot in Recoleta is credited with having the best empanadas in town. Hand-made and baked to order, these empanadas are full and juicy, ready to be devoured. The Empanadas Fritas with Beef Relleno will not disappoint.

-La Cupertina

Also an empanada shop in Palermo Viejo, the empanadas will satisfy your hunger, but the dessert will keep you coming back. Order the Orange-glazed Chocolate Cheesecake, actually go ahead and order two!

As far as Buenos Aires dining is concerned, vegetarian and vegan cuisine may not be what immediately comes to mind. However, has a delightful menu and the cafe just oozes with charm. It’s the perfect spot for a late lunch after browsing the San Telmo barrio. The all natural juices come in huge portions, and the mushroom burger is as fresh as it is filling.

On that note, my stomach is rumbling…off to lunch! ¡Provecho!
