One slightly annoying problem that expats face in a foreign country is the “Name game.” It’s a game that could take up a lot of your time if you’re a fan of ordering a coffee or food to go, taking your laundry to a lavandería with the intention of ever getting it back, and finally, meeting locals.
The delightful combination of accent, spelling and pronounciation can create confusion, frustration and often, laughter, either with or at you. If you would like to avoid these tongue-twisted interactions, I suggest you take a little time out of your day and come up with a Latino name. How much time you spend on this is completely up to you.
Just be careful, a new fancy Latino name could lead to the creation of a fancy new personality too, just remember to keep Miguel or Maria in check.
